Help us provide care for our patients and support their families when they need it most.
Since Bury Hospice opened in June 1991, the charity has helped thousands of people through the most difficult times in their lives with specialist, compassionate and palliative end-of-life care. All of our services are provided free of charge but as a charity it costs £4m to run Bury Hospice with a 13% contribution from the NHS. The remainder is generated via our income generation streams and support from the community through donations, regular giving, fundraising, legacies and playing our weekly lottery.
Bury Hospice is well known for providing care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families.
Our specialist team of nurses can help as soon as a life-limiting illness is diagnosed, supporting patients and their families at every step of their palliative and end-of-life journey at the Hospice and in the community. Whether it is using their expert knowledge of pain management and symptom control or supporting their family members, our nurses are there to provide care, hope and support.
It is our mission to ensure that we are able to develop our services to continue meeting the needs of people with life-limiting illnesses and make sure excellent patient care is at the heart of everything we do.
Our 1,000 Club is a collection of individuals, companies and groups who want to make a difference by helping fund our specialist and compassionate end-of-life care for local people.
If you are able to pledge £1,000 per year, £66.67 plus gift aid per month, we would love you to join our exclusive 1,000 Club. As a club member, your substantial support will help us provide care and support for patients and their loved ones when they need it most.

Legacies form a key part of the ongoing funding of Bury Hospice and gifts in wills help us to continue to provide our vital services across the borough.
Leaving a gift in your will can help us plan ahead and could fund important development work in addition to extending our core services.
Even a small percentage of people’s estates will make such a difference to the lives of families needing our support.
Making a will is relatively easy and probably one of the most important things you can do to ensure your wishes will be carried out, ensuring your family and loved ones are taken care of in the way that you would like.
There can also be tax advantages to remembering a charity such as Bury Hospice in your will and in the past, legacies have helped to improve our buildings, decorate and furnish patient’s bedrooms, improve our gardens and make substantial contributions towards the annual £4.4m running costs.
For more than 30 years Bury Hospice has provided a range of services including our Inpatient Unit, Outreach Service, Complementary Therapy and Bereavement and Family Support Service to anyone with a life-limiting illness and support their families.
From January 2023 to January 2024, we cared for 137 patients on our Inpatient Unit, there were 267 new referrals to our Outreach Service who provided 1,801 face to face visits and 1,201 telephone support calls during this 12 month period.
As a Hospice the care we give is person to person, from giving out medication to taking a patient for a gentle stroll through our gardens, our nursing is not only about the physical and medical care, but also the compassionate and holistic support patients and their loved ones need.
We feel privileged to provide this care and support for local people facing life-limiting illnesses and support their families, and our aim is to be there for everyone who needs us, now and in the future. We can only provide this specialist care for the local people who need us thanks to the donations and fundraising that supports our work, and gifts in wills are a vital part of this.
Many people choose to support Bury Hospice by leaving us a gift in their will, in the knowledge that they will be helping us to be there for local people who will need our care and support in the future. It can also be a wonderful opportunity to support a cause you are passionate about and make a lasting difference.
