“My first love will always be for the moorland landscapes of Northern England, especially those in my native North West and Cumbria. I am an ardent walker in all weathers and I try to capture in my sketch book those special moments that all of us walkers chance upon. I usually sketch in either charcoal or watercolour and those sketches later form the basis of my studio works in acrylic or mixed media. Quite often, I actually like the original sketch best. Winter Hill, near Bolton, occupies a special place in my affections, living as I do on its lower slopes and this is my regular dog walking terrain. Lucky me! And lucky Louis, my galumphing dog!”
