Location: Bury, Greater Manchester (with travel across retail sites)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexibility required, including weekends)
About the Role
Bury Hospice is seeking an inspiring and commercially minded Head of Retail to join our Senior Management Team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead our multi-site retail operation, including charity shops, furniture stores, warehousing, logistics, and a growing online presence across platforms such as eBay. This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering an ambitious retail strategy that maximises income and supports the hospice’s vital work in the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver an integrated retail and online sales strategy to maximise income and profitability.
- Lead, inspire, and develop a committed team of paid staff and volunteers.
- Drive growth across physical stores and e-commerce platforms.
- Work closely with Marketing to deliver effective retail campaigns and donation drives.
- Manage retail budgets, KPIs, property portfolio, logistics, and warehouse operations.
- Identify and develop future retail growth opportunities.
- Act as a senior ambassador for Bury Hospice, including participation in the Senior Manager on-call rota.
About You
- Significant senior retail management experience, ideally in the charity or not-for-profit sector.
- Proven track record of driving sales growth and managing budgets across multiple sites or channels.
- Experience developing online or e-commerce trading.
- Strong leadership, commercial, and communication skills.
- Values-driven, hands-on, and strategically minded.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to work weekends when required.
