Bury Hospice is dedicated to providing the highest quality individualised and patient centred care to our patients and communities.

Education and development is vital to maintain and enhance these high standards of quality as demonstrated in our recent Care Quality Commission report.

We strive to invest in our team by providing education and training opportunities to improve and maintain knowledge, skills and attitudes of both our staff and volunteers by:

Apprenticeships for our team combining practical work-based learning with academic study.
Flexible learning sessions including e-learning and taught face to face sessions.
Support newly qualified nurses in preceptorship at the start of their careers.
Revalidation Support for clinically registered staff to maintain their professional registration.
Regular appraisals to continuously develop team members to achieve professional career development and meet organisational goals.

We work in partnership with our external health and social care key stakeholders playing a vital role in the leadership and co-ordination of palliative and end and life care education in Bury.

We offer:

Placements for health and social care students through our partnerships with local universities and colleagues including student nurses, trainee nursing associates, doctors, and paramedics.
Free Hospice awareness sessions for health and social care professionals to learn about our services, how to refer to us and tour our wonderful facilities.
Specific courses including Advance Care Planning and Communication skills, Oral care, Symptom management and care in the last months, weeks and days of life, bereavement care.
Bespoke training opportunities for other health and social care organisations, and local employers.
Dedicated training spaces that can be hired out.
