Bury Hospice is Wishing Everyone a Blessed Ramadan

Ramadan, which is observed by Muslims around the world, is nearly upon us, marking the beginning of hundreds of celebrations in towns and cities across the UK.

Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, worship, and charitable giving observed by Muslims all over the world.

The dates Ramadan takes place vary every year as the Islamic calendar follows the phases of the moon, also known as the lunar cycle. This year, Ramadan is expected to start on the evening of Tuesday, February 17th and come to an end on Wednesday, March 18th. Bury Hospice would like to wish everyone taking part a blessed month.

Eid al-Fitr is marked at the end of Ramadan and means "the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast". It marks not only the end of fasting but also sees Muslims thank Allah for giving them strength during the month.

Ramadan Mubarak and welcome to Bury Hospice

We are calling on the Bury Muslim community to support our vital work by making a donation during the holy month of Ramadan.

Bury Hospice opened in June 1991 and the charity has helped thousands of people through some of the most difficult times in their lives with specialist, compassionate and palliative end-of-life care.

It costs £4.8m to run our services with a 17% contribution from the government. The remainder is generated via our income generation streams and support from the community.

Our services include inpatient care at the hospice, a community outreach service which provides support to patients and families in their own home, a hospice at night service providing overnight support, a complementary therapy service, outpatient clinics and a bereavement and wellbeing support service. All provided free of charge.
