Bury Hospice team finalists for Nursing Times Award

 Nursing Times Award

Bury Hospice was delighted to be shortlisted for a nursing award alongside The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in recognition of a collaborative approach to delivering systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT) closer to home in the community.

Bury Hospice was a finalist in The Nursing Times Awards 2021, in the Nursing in the Community category.

The nurse-led outreach systemic anti-cancer treatment service has partnered with three local hospices to offer treatments closer to patients’ homes.

Offering both phlebotomy and treatment services, it reduces travel time and costs and allows patients to spend more time with family or continue to work.

Nicola Cheetham, Director of Clinical Services said: “We are extremely proud that we have been able to support more families across the community and are delighted to have our amazing work recognised, it is a huge honour for our Hospice to be a shortlisted finalist in this years’ Nursing Times Awards.”

The glittering awards ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on October 27th. Chris Claydon-Butler, Interim Chief Executive, Nicola Cheetham, Director of Clinical Services and Jackie Halstead, Patient Services Development Lead attended the event.

This was a prestigious awards evening with some extremely quality nominations and even to be shortlisted was an achievement in itself and shows what talented staff we have at Bury Hospice.
