At Bury Hospice we aim to provide the best possible support and care to patients living with life limiting illnesses and their families. Our ability to undertake this work and to further develop our services is only made possible through the generosity and dedication of our volunteers. We are supported by a committed and enthusiastic workforce of over 250 volunteers, who each play a fundamental role in the day-to-day running of the Hospice.
Volunteering is embedded into every aspect of Hospice life and we are thrilled to be able to offer a range of opportunities for volunteers to get involved with; from roles supporting clinical and bereavement services to fundraising, domestic, and administration or retail roles.
We have shops located in the centre of Bury, Radcliffe, Prestwich, and Ramsbottom. As a retail volunteer, your duties would involve preparing items ready for sale (sorting, steaming, labelling) and supporting on the shop floor providing friendly customer service and helping to generate income for the Hospice.
Our E-Commerce team is based in Radcliffe. Volunteers support with the photographing and researching of donated items, and then with listing these items for sale on our online platforms. More volunteer support will allow for items to be processed more efficiently, increasing income generation for the Hospice.
Bury Hospice is currently recruiting for Hospice Ambassadors to act as a representative for the Hospice at community and organisational events.

Are you a perfectionist with a paintbrush, handy with a hammer, skilled with a saw or capable with cuisine, if so we could be looking for you!
We have several new volunteer roles upcoming at the hospice:
Painter & decorator - This role would not have set hours, with a flexible ‘as required’ approach and a focus on fitting in with the existing maintenance team requirements.
This is an ideal role for someone with proven experience who may be looking to keep busy in retirement or semi-retirement, allowing them to keep using existing skills, stay in touch with a friendly group of people and support a worthwhile local charity, which is passionate about supporting others.
Handyperson - We are looking for a general handyperson to volunteer at our hospice and other sites. The types of job will vary and will include such things as plumbing blockages and leaks, replacing toilet flushes and radiator valves, joinery work i.e. fixing/changing door handles/locks, putting up shelves, and changing light bulbs.
Catering Assistant - We're looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to help us in this sociable role, which supports the hospice's catering team to provide a professional hospitality service in the café to our patients, visitors, employees and volunteers.
Cafe Volunteering Hours:
We’re looking for support ideally one day per week or one day per fortnight.
