New Director of Clinical Services Appointed

Bury Hospice appoints Jenny Gallagher to lead clinical position

Bury Hospice has appointed, Jenny Gallagher, as the new (incoming) Director of Clinical Services.

Originally from Lancaster, Jenny qualified in 1999 from St. Martin’s College with a diploma in adult nursing, before moving to Wigan in 2000 where she met her husband.

Jenny has a wealth of skills and knowledge. Her experience spans the NHS, and private and charity sectors, in clinical and leadership positions.

She has a degree in Oncology, specialist practitioner qualifications in District Nursing, an MSc in Palliative Care, and she is a Non-Medical Prescriber.

Jenny takes on the role, as outgoing lead, Sarah Machin, relocates to Cornwall with her family.

Jenny, said: “It is such an exciting time to be part of the Bury team as the hospice embarks on a new chapter of growth and innovation in palliative and end-of-life care for the people of Bury.”

“It’s a real honour to be part of such a dedicated and hardworking team, delivering care with dignity, respect, and compassion every day to support our local community with their palliative and end-of-life care needs.”

Jenny started her role at Bury Hospice on Monday 14th April.

Sarah, said: “Bury Hospice is going to be in brilliant hands with Jenny. She brings a wealth of experience, she's personable, and I couldn't think of leaving the wonderful team that I've worked with for the last three years with anyone better than Jenny.”

“I just want to thank her for applying, and thank my team for a great three years here. I'll miss everybody, but I'll stay in touch.”
