Classic club anthems and hit chart toppers were pumping through the speakers, last Saturday (20th September), at Back in the Day.
The sold-out day rave had more than 200 people partying to the best tunes, all through the afternoon and into the night, in support of Bury Hospice.
Back in the Day was held in collaboration with Daniel Healey of the Den (one of Bury’s leading performance spaces), and Ged Birch of Decade of Dance Music and Club Events Promotion.
The vibes on the dancefloor were unmatched, as three of Bury’s finest DJ’s: Chris Buckley, Rob Lorton and Ged, kept the tracks spinning on rotation.
The performance troupe, The Flaming Psychotics, lit up the atmosphere with a special LED light display, dressed in stunning, illuminous costumes. They danced continuously, welcoming everyone through the doors with a spray of bubbles.
Rachel Krafft, Senior Community Fundraiser, at Bury Hospice, said: “Back in the Day was a huge success; the dancefloor was bouncing the whole way through.”
“The Den was amazing, and the Flaming Psychotics added a really fun element by providing a bit of live theatre.”
“There was such a great mix of people; everyone seemed to be having an amazing time, in a safe space.”
Glow sticks were at the ready as clubbers across all generations came together to recapture the buzzing spirit of Bury’s old clubbing scene.
The VIP seating booths were named after some of the beloved night spots from back in the day: Sol Viva, Rebecca’s and Benny’s, however, people were hardly seated for long, especially when their favourite songs came on.
Everyone looked great, dressed in fun, glowing and shiny accessories which showcased their individual styles and personalities.
Some people on the day, were celebrating birthdays, some were just wanting some prime daytime fun, and others were simply revisiting the special nostalgic moments of yesteryear.
We all came together to have a great time, ultimately raising a spectacular £4,000 as a community, in support of patients and families in need of essential palliative and end-of-life care.
There are so many people to thank for ensuring such a fantastic return to the great times once had on Bury’s heaving dancefloors.
A special thank you to Ged Birch, Dan Healey, Chris Buckley, Rob Lorton, the Flaming Psychotics, The Den, the bar and security teams, and every single person who came out to party hard for our great cause.
Back in the Day was Bury Hospice’s first day clubbing event but it certainly won’t be the last.
