Local company, Cranswick Continental Foods, has won the Bury Hospice Corporate Challenge 2024.

Eleven organisations took part in the Corporate Challenge, which invited the participants to fundraise for Bury Hospice over a span of three months (September-November 24).

The organisations could choose the ways in which to raise the funds, sparking lots of creativity and community cross working.

Fundraisers included a carwash, a karaoke, a curry night, a book sale, a quiz, plus many more fun events that got lots of people involved.

Cranswick Continental Foods took first place, raising £4,262.91; Made in Bury Brunch Club, came in second, having raised £3,036.80, and coming in third place was North West Networking, which raised £2,676.36.

To raise the funds, the Cranswick team created an eco-friendly project called Second Nature Initiative, which saw them recycle olive barrels into water butts, which were then sold.

They also coordinated a food exchange, sharing meat pies, sausage rolls, and pigs in blankets, across their 22 sites. Chicken pies were sold to staff for £1.00 each, as a way of giving back to team members at the 750-person Bury site.

All expenses were covered, with the profits kindly donated to Bury Hospice.

The winning team was awarded a beautiful wooden trophy, crafted by local maker and hospice supporter, Duncan Meachin.

Alastair Macdonald, Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator at Cranswick Continental Foods, said: “We worked the total up from £50, building it up £50 at a time. I personally, had never stepped foot into a hospice before but upon doing so at Bury Hospice, I was inspired by the work being done, so couldn’t help but get involved.”

All of the Corporate Challengers did a fantastic job of raising vital funds for the hospice, achieving the phenomenal collective total of £14,753.00.

Nina Camplin, Corporate Fundraiser at Bury Hospice said: “All of the Corporate Challengers are winners, but really the biggest winner is Bury Hospice, and for that I thank them sincerely.”

Now the exciting three months have come to an end, Bury Hospice is looking ahead to next year’s big Corporate Challenge.

Even more fantastic fundraising ideas are sure to be on the way, and we are excited to see what the challengers do next!
