Bury Hospice’s Community Fundraiser, Rachel Krafft, Wins Wonder Woman Award.
Rachel Krafft, community fundraiser at Bury Hospice, won a ‘Wonder Woman’ award at an annual ceremony, which celebrates the wonder women of Bury.
The event, which took place at ADAB, The Mosses, in Cecil Street, BL9 0SB, was hosted on International Women’s Day, (Friday 8th March), by the BAME Project, a Bury-based, non-profit community group, which provides services that reduce isolation and improves the health and wellbeing of the local community.
Rachel, who won the ‘Women in Medical Sector’ category, was recognised for her tireless work within the community, which sees her engaging local people and organisations to inform them about Bury Hospice and the varied ways in which they can get involved in fundraising.
Rachel said; “It was a really nice night, attended by lots of different people from the community, all celebrating International Women’s Day.
“It was really nice to be nominated, let alone to win – I was in actual shock.”
Cllr Shaheena Haroon and Helen Tomlinson, Chief Officer at VCFA, presented the award to Rachel on the night.
Rachel, said: “I would like to thank Wendy Howarth for nominating me, the judges for awarding me the award, and the BAME Project for putting on a wonderful evening.”
Bury Hospice is proud of Rachel for her fabulous win, which is very well deserved.
Helen Lockwood, CEO of Bury Hospice, said: “We are all so proud of Rachel – she works so hard and this award simply says it all and recognises her amazing contribution to the hospice and our community in Bury.
“Thanks to the BAME Project for organising and recognising some fabulous people.”
