Competition winners announced

Four primary school children have been crowned winners of the Bury Hospice Design a Dedication Card competition, as part of the Forget Me Not appeal.
Winning designs by Oliver, five, Isla, six, and Eloise and Archie, both aged 11, were selected out of hundreds of entries.
The pupils from Hazlehurst Primary Academy and Christ Church CE Primary School in Walshaw, each won a toy and received a wonderful Forget Me Not, handcrafted by Oswestry-based British Ironwork Centre.
The design competition encouraged children aged four to eleven to get creative and design the front cover of the Forget Me Not dedication cards, using paints, felt tips or colouring pencils to make their creations.
The primary schoolers had the chance to demonstrate their creativity and to also learn about the hospice and its role of providing vital care and support services to the local community.
These services include the Sunflower Group, which offers bereavement support to families of children aged five to eleven by using arts, crafts, and books to explore a range of different topics.
The group is a space for attendees to access peer support and gain the tools needed to come to terms with their grief.
The Forget Me Not appeal, which is proudly sponsored by Secure Store, Bury, ensures that anyone can remember their loved ones in a poignant way by purchasing and dedicating a unique handcrafted Forget Me Not in tribute (for a minimum donation of £25 each).
This year, large, limited edition Forget Me Not flowers are also available for a minimum donation of £200 each.
Loving dedications can be made by anyone, whether you’ve had first-hand experience of Bury Hospice’s specialist care services or not.
Each purchase goes towards supporting the work the hospice does to care for its patients and their families across the borough.
All of the dedicated Forget Me Nots will be on display around the hospice pond from 23rd May until 6th June, where you are welcome to come and view them, before taking your tribute flower home to keep, once the meaningful display comes to an end.

Lisa Schofield, Individual Giving Fundraiser at the hospice, said: “Thank you to everyone who entered the competition, and well done to the talented winners.”
“We were honoured to have received so many entries, which demonstrated an array of talent from Bury’s primary school pupils.”
“Isla, who was selected as the overall winner, will have her design printed and sent out to each person who makes a dedication in tribute to a loved one who has sadly died.”
“Her dedication card design complements the beautiful Forget Me Nots very well, serving as a lovely reminder of those who are loved and missed.”
