Go, Jonny, go!

Jonny Evans runs seven marathons in seven days to support Bury Hospice

Jonny Evans, a keen long-distance runner and fundraiser has completed his monumental challenge of running seven marathons in seven days in support of Bury Hospice.

Jonny ran the daily marathons in loving memory of his Mum, Susan Evans, and friend and former Bury Hospice patient, Kristian Thew.

He said: “Bury Hospice has been outstanding in helping Kris and my Mum, and I would love to give [the hospice] a little something back.”

Jonny started his massive feat on Sunday 10th December, finishing on Saturday 16th – the date of Kristian’s first wedding anniversary to wife Lil.

The kindness of the local community has meant that Jonny has surpassed his original target of raising £1000, as donations (at the time of publication) currently stand at a whopping £8,220.

Prior to starting the running challenge Jonny had said: “Your donations will make a significant difference and I would be incredibly grateful for your support.

“If you’re up for the challenge, please come and join me for a full marathon or even part of one, on any of the days.”

Jonny was often joined by running mates, who supported him along the way.

By day six, Jonny, although achy, was looking forward to completing the 183.5 miles in total. Which he did – making the huge running challenge seem effortless!

Rachel Krafft, Community Fundraiser at Bury Hospice said: “It’s been amazing to see Jonny’s dedication, grit, and determination towards raising much-needed funds for Bury Hospice.

“He really is an inspiration to all of us.”
